David (Skip) Fairman always wanted to be a farmer. As a means to that end, he became a United Airlines Captain and earned enough money to buy the farm in 1973.
He first grew corn, soybeans, and wheat. Later he added vegetables for the family and began selling the excess from a table, with umbrella, in the barnyard.
Today that has grown to a full farmstand located in the PA bankbarn with the 30' Snoopy painted on the end. A wide variety of veggetables, sweet corn, garlic, and berries are grown.
The garlic venture has become famous for the Garlic Hot Pepper Jelly we produce.
Many fruit and berry jams and jellies are also produced and sold at Garlic Festivals.
Farming has always been part of my life since I was born on a farm in Guilford County North Carolina.
After a career as an educator of adults in the Natural Gas Industry, I retired and moved to PA. There Skip and I began to expand the vegetable growing on his farm.
We have made it a rule to never plant anything that doesn't look beautiful or produce something edible.
Our goal is to produce naturally grown vegetables that have great taste. Our market is the neighborhood locavores. We have a growing market that is greatly appreciated.
